The National Drug Control Department has confiscated a shipment of 155 kilos of pure cocaine that was to have been shipped to Puerto Rico on board a freight container departing from Haina Oriental Port International Terminals, as reported in Hoy.
Two men, 29-year-old Marcos Eliezer Nova Garcia and 35-year-old Agustin Berroa Martinez were arrested and several others are under investigation. The DNCD had been trailing Nova Garcia on suspicion of drug trafficking using the port of Haina where he worked as a HIT ship inspector. Berroa Martinez is an employee of the Maritima Dominicana shipping agency.
The DNCD accuse Nova and Berroa of placing the cocaine shipment in a 40-foot container that was bound for Puerto Rico on board CFS Pamplona. The shipment was consigned to Carga Global, S.A.
