San Jose - CR versus Sosua - DR

I have been both two San Jose and Sosua, in the past I have noticed many similarities and difference. Many friends one time or another have asked me to explain the difference. So i will compare IMHO.

More tourism options ----San Jose (due to all the nearby natural wonders & SJ itself is a big city)

Most likely to have GFE ----Sosua (due to neighboring small towns and POP)

More English Speaking ----San Jose

More Cross Dressers / Trannies ----San Jose

More Casinos ----San Jose

Someone might want to compare San Jose, CR versus Santo Domingo, DR. I recommend if you have chance visit all locations to get a perspective and variety.

IMO, not even close. Sosua hands down. The Experience in CR is like walking down south beach at 4am. Hardcore Hookers. Sosua is way more casual and laid back.

It all depends on the quality of the women that you like, as for the quality of the women when it comes to talent wise and more Variety CR wins hands down. Especially when you have women from all over Latin America, the only down fault it has is that its hard to get that GFE, because they are strictly hardcore. Then again you can find some GFE it all depends, and another downer is that San Jose does not have a beach, if you want a beach you have to drive at least 2 hours to the nearest one which is probably JACO Beach.

As for Sosua the quality of the talent its a big hit or miss, that place does no justice to the beauty of the women that DR has. Sosua its were the bottom of the barrel women from DR go. You only see a few selective that are worth sessioning with. If you want beauty and Talent in DR stick to the Cibao region to Pueblos such as Santiago, Bonao, La Vega, Moca.

Overall the talent of CR is way but way better, the GFE in Sosua is better. But the when it comes to quality and looks CR kills Sosua with a nuke bomb.

You are right the best talent is the Colombian girls, but the Ticas don't fall far behind either too. I can say about 40% of the girls that work in Del Rey are Ticas and also at the Sportman Lodge too.

The suggest that you always take a taxi at night, even if your hotel is 3 blocks away.

Same here, I only chase the Ticas and Nicas, I wasn't cool with giving them super hardcore Colombianas there $100 for just 1 hour, not when I can go to New Life in Medellin and bang them for $18. :lol:

The bad news is San Jose is #5 or #6 on my list of places to return to. Most likely after Thailand it will drop to #6 or #7.

I like San Jose. I suggest you explore the rest of the country. The Caribbean side is great.
San Jose is for Bar Hoppers, Casino lovers, massage parlors etc.

I'm actually going back in January. Jimmy is correct take a taxi at night. They are so cheap. 1 to 5 dollars will get you anywhere.

If you get to know the place better their are some nice nightclubs to pull some Non Pro Ticas.

I go to a Club called Ebony 56. I sit in the VIP section. Many girls to be had...

I tell anyone who is planning a first trip to Costa Rica to make sure they get out of the gulch... even if it's just for a day. I know many guys who have been traveling to CR for years... and never leave the gulch except to leave for the airport. I see the same type of guys slowly trickling towards Medellin and never leaving the mongering B&Bs. To each his own, I guess. ;) For me, I can't stay in the gulch longer than 3 days without itching for a road trip elsewhere in Costa Rica. And there are many nice "elsewhere's" in this beautiful little country.

PS there is a beach in both directions a mornings drive away ie Jaco Beach.

1. Negril, Montego Bay Jamaica - English speaking helps a lot and has the best beaches
2. San Andres, Colombia - this is where the hot Colombians go on vacation
3. Sosua - point and click
4. Santo Domingo - bonita chicas for the hunters
5. Panama - very different country and you'll need your Spanish
6. San Jose - melting pot of hookers
7. Cancun/Cozumel Mexico - good Casas and many speak pretty good English
8. Montreal - not bad if you live in New England or NY
9. Bahamas - never again

Many girls in CR come from Nicaragua especially the big cities like Managua where there is very little tourism and many beautiful Spanish looking girls. Somewhat like Medellin but the Nicaraguans have much much less in terms of educational opportunities, income, quality public transportation ect.

Mike, it rains a lot In San Jose. The green or rainy season in CR runs from the end of April through the end of November. Even the dry season ( beginning of Dec through the middle of April) is not really dry... just "drier" than the other 7 months.

Hunter, it's not that I dislike Medellin, it's just that I like a lot of places even better, either because they have a beach, or else more variety of chicas, or a better non-mongering scene. I'm also a little more partial to Asians.

The big attraction of MDE is that you can bonk a chica in a casa for $18 for half an hour. The rest of the day? I just enjoyed other places more.

Also, chicas tend to migrate from cheaper mongering destinations to pricier ones. For example, in San Jose, you can find girls from Costa Rica, Colombia, Nicaragua, Domincan Rupublic, etc., but you won't find too many Costa Ricans in any of those other countries. So the variety tends to happen in pricier locations. Is that variety worth the extra cost? Well, that's a personal decision, and even for me, it's not always a clear cut answer. It depends on my mood. But if I want to go to a cheap country where all the girls are from that one country (example, Colombia), Colombia would not be at the top of my list.

Sosua was very high on my list, and I also have San Jose ahead of Medellin. If I countinued the list, I would have had Buenos Aires and Montevideo next.

And if you'll notice, everyplace on my list is from a place where i don't speak the language. My Spanish may suck, but it's far better than my Thai, Portuguese or Khmer, and I had them all ahead of Medellin.

I know Medellin is your current favorite. It's just not mine, and language has nothing to do with it.

Yes, the temperatures in San Jose are similar to the "eternal spring" of Medellin. Both coasts of CR get oppressively hot... but the Pacific side is drier than the Caribbean.

I was in Real Estate Development for years full time before getting tired of the long hours and focusing more on the nightclub and hospitality end and consulting and getting lazy. :lol:

We did alot of work out in CR and later Nica. We saw Los Suenos being built on a mangrove swamp just north of Jaco and developed much of that property to the north past the golf course.

I like both places. The quality is higher in San jose but so is the price. You do have to be careful in both places. Let me share my favorite San Jose story. I was staying at the Holiday in with two friends. each of us had rooms over the entrance . I was on top, below me was my buddy Mike, below him was Mikes buddy Ralph. Each nite as part of a friendly competition we would each put up $50 in a wager to see who would get the best looking girl. We would all go out on our balcony at 1:00 to compare girls. Six nights in a row either I won or Ralph won. Our last night, a saturday, Mike wanted to double the stakes. Fine we thought it was only fair to give him a chance to get part way even. We split up for the hunt. I found a decent entry but was not too confident. Mike went and found two smoking hot bitches, I don't know what he agreed to pay but they made him take them to an all you can eat buffet before going back to the hotel. He loaded up on spaghetti. Once they got back in the room the girls each took a shower. Mikes stomach started to hurt and he kept trying to rush the second girl to finish her shower. When the girl came out of the bathroom she must have pushed the lock button and closed the door behind her. By this time Mike was sweating bullets he really had to go #2. He tried to get the door open himself but he is no Mc Gyver. So he called the front desk and asked them to please send someone up right away to help him. The desk clerck said "we are a little busy with a wedding but I will send someone as soon as I can. " Mike waited and waited and it was fast approaching 1:00. Because of the stomach ache, the girls were just watching TV . Finnally Mike could wait no more and grabbed the ice bucket. Just as he had dropped his pants and started to explode the door opened and the hotel guy came in and said " senor, what are you doing"? Naturally the door opening startled Mike so some of the diarhea explosion missed the bucket. This made the two girls run away screaming. Mikes night was ruined and his chance to win over. For any normal guy this would have been the end of the story. Mike is not a normal guy. He waited for the hotel guy to open the bathroom door and then leave. When he got the call to come out on the balcony for the "show down". Mike dumped the contents of the ice bucket into a plastic bag. Then he went out on the balcony planning to dump the bag on his friend Ralph. His aim was no better than his lockpicking skills and the bag bounced off of Ralph's railing, opened up, and spread out into a brown cloud that fell all over the departing wedding party including the bride and her white dress. Within minutes the front desk guy was banging on his now double locked door screaming "Senor, why did you do that"? Of course Mike was scratching his head trying to figure out how they knew it was him. That little episode is why I have switched over to Sosua.

My question is this, so many experienced guys list Montreal, it's only a short drive from NYC, we could be going every weekend, why don't I see more on the board about this? I have met alot of ex-pats that claim that too. Some maybe only a small percentage are ex-pats for a reason because they were involved in other things too or just plain corrupt.
