Little by little the police officers assigned to different duties outside the department were reporting back to headquarters, and they were none too happy about it. Yesterday, 85 more policemen who had worked for extra money at different state owned businesses reported back for duty. Like the previous1,080, they were not happy to be lined up in formation. These 85 officers came from the National Lottery, the Customs Office and the Ministry of the Interior and the Police, and Diario Libre reporters did not find any who had worked for private companies among the 15 who were interviewed. According to the police chief, Bernardo Santana Paez, a commission will meet with officials from the Treasury and the Finance Ministry to discuss a review of police salaries. Listin Diario reports that many of the returnees were seriously thinking of leaving their police jobs because they could not live on the salary paid by the Police Department.
