The nation's scrap metal dealers and exporters are calling for a new tender for the scrap metal from the Manzanillo Project. David Santiago, the president of the DR National Scrap Metal Companies Association, described the allocation of the tender to a company that had just been created, that was not registered as a metal exporter and lacking the required certification from the Center for Exports and Investments (CEI-RD), as "highly questionable, to say the least". Diario Libre says that the association is asking the National Assets (Bienes Nacionales) department, the director general of Customs Department (DGA) and the government authorities to issue a new tender for the scrap from the Manzanillo Project.
