American Airlines has confirmed that as of 6 April 2011, it is suspending its three daily flights to Santo Domingo's Las Americas International Airport from San Juan's Munoz Marin International Airport. Minnette Velez, spokeswoman for the company said that flights from Santo Domingo to Miami, New York and Boston from AILA would continue, with some reductions. She said that American Eagle will continue its twice-daily flights to San Juan from AILA, Punta Cana and Cibao International Airport in Santiago.
As of April 2011, American Eagle will suspend flights to La Romana and Puerto Plata from San Juan. As reported in Hoy, American Eagle flights will replace American Airlines flights on the Miami-La Romana route.
The airline reports that from AILA, American Airlines will maintain only one daily flight on the SDQ-MIA, SDQ-JFK and SDQ-BOS routes. The direct flight from New York to Puerto Plata will be cancelled. AA will continue to fly from MIA to Puerto Plata and Punta Cana, and from PUJ to New York direct.
