As part of his 13-day tour of the US, President Leonel Fernandez met with members of the House of Representatives Black Caucus in Los Angeles. The Presidency reports that during his visit to Los Angeles, Fernandez met with legislators Diane Watson and California assembly member Steven Bradford Steven Bradford, who is the chair of the committee on utilities and commerce. Others meeting with Fernandez included Charisse Bremond-Weaver of the Brotherhood Crusade that provides grants for advancement of African-Americans and Charmaine Jefferson, director of the California African-American Museum.
Fernandez discussed initiatives aimed at helping Haiti with African American community leaders in Los Angeles. Almost nine months after the devastating earthquake, some news reports are claiming that not one cent of the US$1.15 billion the US had pledged to help recovery has been delivered.
Steven Bradford committed to coordinating a visit to the DR by a mission of Californian companies interested in doing business in the DR.
The Presidency also reported that Fernandez met with executives interested in doing business with the DR.
