Rafael Soriano sent the Tampa Bay Rays into the post-season with his 44th save of the season. No matter what happens in the final games, the Rays will either be in the playoffs as the winners of the Eastern Division of the Junior Circuit or as a Wild Card. Soriano now has an ERA average of just 1.79 and has a 3-2 record to go along with the league-leading 44 saves. Hoy reports that his effort was helped by a home run by fellow Dominican Carlos Pena, who had gone more than 30 at bats without a home run. Soriano, the closer, and his fellow pitcher Joaquin Benoit have carried a lot of the workload for the Rays this year.
