View Full Version : Airline Troubles!

Well the shit has hit the fan with airline travel.

Overnight there were numerous arrests in the UK of terrorists in connection with a plot to blow up as many as 20 flights!

The UK has shut down Heathrow for the moment except for flights currently in the air. For outgoing flights the security restrictions are hardcore; no purses, handbags, etc. Money, credit cards, travel docs, and essential meds must be carried in clear plastic bags!

The US has raised the terror alert to Orange for all domestic flights and RED for all international flights. ALL liquids are banned from carry on luggage. The US has only gone as far as banning all liquids but there is a possibility that the security measures could be strenghten!

So why am I awake, well I told my sister I would drive her & her bf to the airport so she could go to the DR tomorrow (this morning) at 6am. I was just about to go to sleep a few hours ago when I turned to CNN, all the major news channels have been broadcasting this development non-stop. So I figure I will wake her about two hours early (in 15 mins) and tell her she needs to get there way early!

Good luck to all those traveling in the next few days!

My sister's plane was almost 2 hours late leaving, and it took her 3 hours to get through security at O'Hare!

What a clusterfuck. You see how it only takes 50 or so people to fuck everything thing up for the whole world. Inconciderate bastards.

Thats too bad...

But thinking like a monger I will not be able to bring ASTROGLIDE in my carry on luggage for the forseeable future.

If this shit had caught me at the start of one of my sex odysseys I’d have told them the 20 condoms or so in my hand luggage were a medical prescription and then would have put them inside a plastic bag for anyone to see on that flight heading for some hot spot…

I forgot about the alcohol [I don't drink] forget about Jayman...this would be the first trip to DR in years where everyone else except me and that flight attendents are not stinking drunk.

More violence and hate is not the answer. Letting these assholes disrupt our lives and create more fear and chaos is giving them exactly what they want. It also gives the government and corporate America just another reason to bend us all over further for additional ass fucking on pricing and restricting more personal freedom :icontd:

I just got home from a domestic flight, 2nd day of the restrictions. I always have problems with delays so I always schedule a dead day or two in my trip that the delays always eat up.

Problem was alot of delays, mine were due to flights running late the 1st day and pilots coming in late the 2nd day due to restrictions on required rest between shifts. That set alot of the 6 am flights back to 9 or 10 and then it dominoed.

I packed the banned items on my checked bag, approvables on my one carry on were sorted out and in baggies. Nothing in my pockets the whole trip, everything in the baggies in the carry on like a purse. If they can eye everything with out digging in it you get through quick, not to many other people had that figured out. I seldom take checked luggage but i had to this trip and it came in handy.

They seemed real concerned about liquid medications as these can be carried on when verified, which I am sure would be a big deal. They looked at all my scripts to make sure there was nothing added.

I went through all inspections quick maybe 10 minutes with no problems; even in Chicago where I went in and out with my carry on about 6 times during a 7 hour delay (smokes) but I also hunted out the isolated quite inspection areas. Main areas were taking about 40 minutes when bursts of masses hit.

My checked bag had the "you have been inspected note" in it when I unpacked. I felt sorry for the Feds checking everyone, not to many looked like they wanted to be there the 2nd day.

I saw quite a few people show up late for connections, my flight was delayed 20 minutes to start and stretched into 7 hours. But 3 later ones to the same destination left on time before mine, without booked passengers still on delayed flights. It looked like total confusion for a while and I overheard 2 staff commenting on how that 2nd day was a breeze compared to the first.

Yes, Jayman; there are plenty of fluids on board, and their loving the Feds insuring you buy it from them.
