The surviving sister of the Mirabal sisters and mother of Environment Minister Jaime David Fernandez, Dede Mirabal has been hospitalized at the Unit of Intensive Care Unit of the Metropolitan Hospital of Santiago (HOMS). A medical team made up of Benjamin Hernandez, Nicolas Batlle and Manuel Lora Perello said she had been taken to the hospital after suffering from cardiac arrhythmia, a complication of her asthmatic condition.
Alvaro Arvelo, the controversial creator and host of the Gobierno de la Manana morning radio talk show is also in hospital. He is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit at Cedimat Plaza de la Salud, where he is recovering from the extraction of a cancerous tumor from one of his lungs.
