A system where anyone with internet access can view and listen to - in real time - the proceedings taking place in any of the 119 criminal courtrooms in the country has been introduced by the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ). All criminal hearings will also be taped. The High Court has also unified in one area the services of notifications, citations and judicial correspondence, which may now be done by fax, electronic mail, mail boxes or by police officers. This information was provided by Cristiana Fulcar, Director of the SCJ's Planning and Projects who explained that there is a permanent 24-hour user service being provided which makes "judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys available 24 hours a day". The Judicial Branch's Information Technology Department already has access to audio of all hearings held in criminal courts, according to Fulcar.
