The Dominican Professional Baseball League has announced the start of the 2010-2011 Winter Professional Baseball Championship for Friday, 22 October with games at the Quisqueya Ball Park in Santo Domingo (Escogo vs. Licey), on Saturday Estrellas vs. Escogido and on Sunday, Licey vs. Escogido. On Saturday, Licey will meet the Aguilas at the Cibao Ball Park in Santiago.
The games are dedicated to the players who were killed in the 1948 Rio Verde airplane crash and to late pitcher Jose Lima. Games will be played six days a week, with Monday the off day for games that need to be rescheduled. Games will be played Monday to Saturday at 7:30pm, and on Sundays and holidays at 5pm. Games Monday to Saturday at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro de Macoris will be at 8pm. Box tickets this year are RD$550, RD$300 and RD$250. The price for bleachers has not been announced. Last year bleachers cost RD$50.
