More taxes?

The 2011 National Budget sent to the Senate calls for changes to the Telecom Law 153-98, and for changes to the Tax Reform 288-04 (implement following the 2003 banking crisis) to increase already existent taxes. As reported in El Caribe, the bill increases the luxury tax on telecom transactions from 10 to 11%. At present, consumers pay 28% of taxes and charges on transactions.
