Press banned from Sobeida + Figueroa case

Taking care to protect the rights of Jose David Figueroa Agosto, who the US Marshals Service called the Pablo Escobar of the Caribbean, and his lover Sobeida Felix Morel, the judge of the Second Court of Instruction of the National District, Claribel Nivar Arias ordered that the presentation of accusations against her and others for money laundering would be heard in private. The judge nevertheless refused to segregate the cases of Jose David Figueroa Agosto and his wife Leavy Nin Batista from the money laundering and justice evasion case against Sobeida Felix Morel on the grounds that they are not in the DR. Leavy Nin Batista left the country before the court hearing and Listin Diario reports she could be in France. Figueroa Agosto is in jail in Puerto Rico. Others included in the hearing are Madeline Bernard, Juan Jose Fernandez Ibarra, Marino Elsevif Pineda, Eddy Brito, Mary Pelaez Frappier, Adolphina Pelaez Frappier and Sammy Dauhajre.
