Santo Domingo is getting ready for Dominican Moda, the Dominican Republic's leading fashion event and perhaps the most important in Latin America, according to El Caribe. Now in its fifth year, this year's event, to be held at the El Embajador Hotel from the 18 to 23 October, will bring together 45 national designers and 10 international designers from Argentina, Ecuador, Venezuela, Panama, Honduras, Peru, Costa Rica and Colombia. The event is being sponsored by American Airlines. The crowning touch will be the Fashions for Help, which will present a collection by Dominican fashion guru Oscar de la Renta.
Socrates McKinney, director of DominicanaModa, says that one of the main objectives is to project Dominican talent overseas.
