Expatriate Dominicans sending more

Expatriate Dominicans are sending more money home, according to the Central Bank half-year report. Diario Libre reports that remittances for the first semester of the year shows that Dominicans living abroad sent home 13.7% more than for the same period in 2005. The Central Bank registered US$1.27 billion in remittances this year, compared to US$1.12 billion. Remittances for all of 2005 reached RD$2.4 billion.
