Producer Jose Ramon Diaz has announced the premiere of the movie drama, "Viajeros" that tells of the plight of Dominicans attempting an illegal trip to Puerto Rico. The film, directed by Carlos Bido, will premiere on Monday, 28 August at Malecon Center Cinema theaters at 8:00 pm. The film will then be shown to the general public as of Thursday the same week, and will open simultaneously in theaters in Puerto Rico and New York City. Starring are Nashla Bogaert, Jose Guillermo Cortines, Richard Douglas and Frank Perozo, among others.
Dominican actress Alexandra Malagon has a leading role in the Puerto Rican film, "El mar no perdona," (The Sea Does Not Forgive) that will be shown on Channel 7, Antena Latina. The film also stars Walter Rodriguez, and is directed by Cesar Paredes. The film shows the reality of the situations that those who take small boats to attempt the perilous Mona Channel crossing have to endure. The TV movie is scheduled for showing in the DR on 5 September at 8:30 pm on Channel 7.
