The Governor of Puerto Rico, Luis Fortuno, will be in Santo Domingo for an official two-day visit starting tomorrow, Wednesday, 13 October. He is due to meet with President Leonel Fernandez. The purpose of his trip is to promote stronger trade and investment ties. The Ministry of Foreign Relations says he will be traveling with his wife Luce Vela, Assistant Secretary of State Jose Rodriguez Suarez, Economic Development and Commerce Secretary Jose R. Perez Rivera and a delegation interested in doing business in the DR.
His agenda includes a 10am meeting with Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso at the Ministry. From there they will visit the Presidential Palace for a meeting with President Fernandez at 11am.
At noon, he is scheduled to speak on "Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, USA: Together to a New Era of Prosperity" at the American Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon meeting. He will also answer reporters' questions.
At 3:20pm, he is scheduled to make two floral tributes: one at the Altar of the Founding Fathers and another in the National Pantheon, at the tomb of early 20th century Puerto Rican educator Eugenio Maria de Hostos.
