CNN reports that more than a billion people worldwide have been watching the moving telecasts and online reports from Chile. Dominicans joined the world in watching the rescue of the Chilean miners before going to sleep last night and first thing in the morning. The story of the rescue seems to have united the world and the very well connected DR is no different. The story has been the talk of the day yesterday in expectation and early today as the first miners surfaced.
The world witnessed the emergence of the first Chilean miner to be rescued after 69 days from the collapsed gold and copper mine some 700 meters below the surface of the Atacama Desert last night.
The rescue operation is expected to run through the start of Thursday.
