The National Drug Control Department has arrested Hengerbeth Pineda Cuevas, suspected of being the head of a network that sent "mules" to the United States and Europe, and his assistant Jose Manuel Martinez. Three foreigners who were about to board flights carrying more than five kilos of cocaine were also arrested. They were Joel Alexander Duarte Garcia, Dahiana Chaily and Antonio Farina. They were planning to travel from Las Americas, Punta Cana and Puerto Plata international airports.
The two men were arrested in El Valiente, in Boca Chica, after they recruited one of three arrested travelers, as reported in El Dia.
