The Ministry of the Environment has announced the discovery of a waterfall in the eastern province of Hato Mayor. Known by locals as "El Zumbador" (The Hummingbird), El Nuevo Diario says the waterfall, which is about 20 meters in height, is located on a farm belonging to Martha Frias, in the middle of some 300 'tareas' (about 20 hectares) of verdant forest in the buffer area near the Los Haitises National Park, to the west of the municipality of El Valle. The area is densely populated with native trees and bird species. According to a local ministry representative, the falls have the potential to attract more tourists to the Hato Mayor area and the eastern region.
