Any recommendations on where to buy inexpensive furniture for living room and bedrooms in Sosua, Puerto Plata or even Santiago but hopefully no further away? Don't want top quality or expensive but don't want crap either.
Will also need basic kitchen ware.

I'm also interested in furniture although not sure what type except inexpensive and hopefully durable and comfortable. perhaps rattan or wrought iron.

Sounds like I may have to be looking to buy something down there.... was thinking of going back to Australia when my kids go to college.... but since the ex is US based she will see them more than me... this way I am close and in a tropic setting... and can always go to Oz once or twice a year to visit freinds and family.

in santiago: ferreteria hache got a nice assortment at good prizes.
for upscale things: plaza internacional, right across the clinic union medica, near the verizon headoffice.

My Man, why don`t ya go to Bali... You'll save money year round, More than enough to pay the kids visits. If I got you correctly your from OZ and you know what I'm talking about. I was there 2 years ago...CHEAP isn't the word for it
