The director of the National Statistics Office (ONE) Pablo Tactuk has revoked the decision to contract Sinergit for carrying out the National Population and Housing Census and said a tender would be held. ONE had chosen Sinergit despite the fact that the National Procurement Office had rejected awarding this company the contract. ONE initially said there was no time for another tender.
Nevertheless, in today's newspapers Hoy quotes Tactuk as saying that ONE is ready for the Census that is scheduled for 24-30 November. ONE chose Sinergit-Active Software as the contractor. An estimated 60,000 people will work in the census, with each surveying an estimated 80 houses in the cities and 60 in rural areas. 44,000 surveyors will collect the information. An estimated 2,718,474 households will be visited, and 10 million people contacted.
