Eddy Martinez, director of the DR Center for Export and Investment, who recently headed a mission to the Shanghai World Expo, is optimistic that Chinese investors will start considering the Dominican market in the near future. He announced a Chinese business mission would come in November as a follow up to meetings in Shanghai.
He said this would be most timely, especially now when free zones at the border with Haiti are being promoted to South Korean investors. Martinez said that the fact the DR does not have diplomatic ties with China should not be an obstacle for these investments. Martinez believes that the DR should strengthen its government presence in China to promote tourism and investment, as reported in 7dias.com.do (http://7dias.com.do)
