President Leonel Fernandez was in western Santo Domingo yesterday to inaugurate a new 16-classroom high school built at a cost of RD$46 million in Caballona, in the Province of Santo Domingo. The modern facility includes science lab, computer lab, multi-use hall, a library and sports facilities. It will serve 605 students in the afternoon. As of next school year, it will also serve students in the morning. Education Minister Melanio Paredes gave the keynote speech and mentioned that in the past two years the government has spent RD$9.2 billion on building more than 2,843 classrooms and improving a further 8,409.
