Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE) vice president Celso Marranzini has announced that a three-year program for investing US$300-US$500 million in transmission lines will be launched in 2011. The aim is to reduce technical losses and fraud. He said the program starts with US$200 million in loans from international organizations, including the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in 2011. He said there would be lots of work for electrical engineers next year and urged Congress to pass a credit for transmission lines rehabilitation signed with the OPEC Funds for US$30 million, as reported in El Caribe.
