Dominicans are having a hard time beating the ingrained leave-it-for-the-last-minute culture. The Department of Taxes says that only 44% of vehicle owners who need to renew their stickers have done so. The DGII has made it very easy to renew the stickers and gives a two-and-a-half-month renewal period. The period expires on 19 November at 268 locations nationwide. Stickers can also be renewed via the Internet, but this process expires on 12 November. Vehicles owners obtaining the sticker as of 19 November will have to pay a RD$600 penalty and renewals are limited to DGII offices.
