Haitian health officials have announced that the cholera outbreak appears to have been contained. The World Health Organization said on Tuesday that more cases of cholera are expected, but ruled out the need for travel restrictions.
The Haitian Ministry of Health has reported 3 342 confirmed cases of cholera and 259 deaths in the country. WHO's regional office has mobilized experts and is focusing on preventing more cases. Ensuring clean water in hospitals and settlement camps is therefore a priority. Twelve cholera treatment centers are being built to support the isolation and treatment of patients.
