The DR Industries Association is hard at work helping set up a chocolate cluster to strengthen the sector. Ricardo Munne, coordinator of the Cacao Cluster, said that chocolate exports were up from October 2009 and September 2010, and he was hopeful the upward trend would continue. "The private sector is doing its bit. We are developing a culture of working together, to approach problems together and make the most of opportunities. The prospects are good, and the trust among players is increasing," said Munne.
The Cluster includes companies that use cacao as a food and others that use the ingredient in beautify products, such as Halka Industrial, as reported in 7dias.com.do.
