Former Chilean President Ricardo Lagos has urged his blue chip audience to foster stronger multilateral organizations so that smaller nations can create their own rules and protect themselves from becoming vassals of the great nations of the world. Lagos made these comments as part of a speech to the Corripio Communications Group in Santo Domingo, warning that the larger nations try to impose their rules upon the smaller nations. Lagos answered reporters' questions as to how Chile managed to win the Secretariat General of the OAS in Washington, Jose Miguel Insulza, in spite of US opposition. He emphasized that only through education can the smaller nations learn to join forces in order to face up to the much larger nations of the globe.
