Fernandez defends Constitution

President Leonel Fernandez has defended the 2010 Constitution, saying that the country has achieved a true institutional and democratic revolution at the vanguard of the 21st Century. He said that all sectors of society were engaged in a process of transformation in order to comply with the new Constitution. Speaking at a luncheon meeting to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the Foundation for Institutionalism and Justice (Finjus), Fernandez said that he has confidence in the country's future because democratic elections are regarded as the way to power. As reported in El Caribe, he reiterated his belief that society understands the need to protect social rights, and has created institutional mechanisms to solve conflicts.
