Highway bandit killed

A Police patrol has killed a man who was hiding in a cave along the Las Americas Expressway after murdering a highway patrolman in a robbery attempt. He was accompanied by a 15-year old youth who was arrested at the scene. Luis Villa, 25 died at the Dr. Dario Contreras Hospital after seeking refuge in a cave at Km. 18 of Las Americas Highway after firing at the police patrol that was on his trail. A Navy speedboat was used in the operation and a police contingent was posted at the Las Americas checkpoint for 24 hours waiting for the assailant to leave the cave, as reported in Diario Libre.
