The DR won the first set, but then lost the match against the best Russian volleyball players 3-1 in the start of the 2010 FIVB Women's World Championship that started today in Tokyo. The DR is one of 24 contenders in the prestigious competition. The event lasts from 29 October through 14 November. The DR is in Group D. Others are Russia, South Korea, Turkey, China and Canada. First day winners in addition to Russia were South Korea and Turkey.
