The Toros had five straight wins at the start of the season, but it appropriately was last season's champions, the Leones del Escogido that put a stop to their string of wins. The Escogido defeated the Toros 4-3.
The Gigantes del Cibao bested the Licey, 6-3 at the Quisqueya Ball Park in Santo Domingo.
The Estrellas got the best of the Aguilas, 6-3.
