The new deputies to be sworn in to Congress at 9am tomorrow are shyly receiving training through drill sessions during which they are being taught how to use the new voting and registration system. When they arrived at the Congress building they seemed lost and asked employees and journalists where the session hall or their party block was located. The session was headed by Chamber of Deputies president Alfredo Pacheco, as reported by Diario Libre, and was attended by 123 of the 178 elected or re-elected deputies. They will start using a "biometric" voting and registration system and will be using state-of-the-art laptops which cost US$2,182 each, and which they will pay back in RD$2,000 monthly installments.
