Gallup poll: 70% trust Leonel

Although the majority of citizens rate the two years of the current government administration between bad and mediocre, 70% of Dominicans trust President Leonel Fernandez, according to results of the latest Gallup-Hoy poll. Of those questioned, 55.4% of adults believe that Fernandez is doing positive work from his office as President. When asked about the government's results in 14 basic development activities, only five (public education, foreign policy, fight against crime, public health solutions, public works construction) scored higher than 3 on a scale of 1 to 5. Activities with the lowest scores were the fight against administrative corruption, public transportation, economic stability, salary increases in the public administration, electric energy, control and regulation of illegal migration of Haitians and other foreigners, the increase in prices of basic foodstuffs, the creation of new jobs and the trafficking and use of drugs.
