The Presidency published a list of 29 laws and measures enacted by the PLD government to combat corruption in the administration in today's papers. The publication comes at a time when ratings for corruption in government in the DR as measured by international bodies such as the World Economic Forum are at an all-time high. This was confirmed by a recent effort of the civil society, international organizations and government known as the Anti-Corruption Participative Initiative (Ipac).
Commenting on the government's publication, several radio commentators reacted to the advertisements making the point that it seems the Fernandez government believes that its responsibility for combating corruption in office is in the publishing of laws and measures, not necessarily in the implementation and enforcement of these.
