The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has posted a red alert for tropical storm conditions in the border provinces of Barahona, Bahoruco, Pedernales, Independencia, San Juan de la Maguana, Elias Pina, Montecristi and Dajabon. The weather department (ONAMET) is forecasting strong winds, torrential rains and high surf for the southwestern and northern coastal zones. It posted yellow alerts also for the provinces of Azua, Santiago Rodriguez, Valverde Mao, La Vega, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal, Duarte, Maria Trinidad Sanchez and San Cristobal, mainly for floods and landslides.
A green alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for the provinces of Santo Domingo, Monte Plata, Sanchez Ramirez, San Jose de Ocoa, Samana, Peravia, Monsenor Nouel, Santiago, Puerto Plata and National District.
ONAMET forecasts rains for most of the national territory.
