On Friday night baseball games all over the country were rained out. These games will be rescheduled for today and for the 15th of this month. The game that the Toros were to play on Thursday against the Leones del Escogido as sell as the complete slate of games on Friday, will be rescheduled for the next two Mondays (today and the 15th Nov.) the only day available for make-up games. The games will be rescheduled as follows:
Today, Monday 8 November, Toros vs Escogido in Quisqueya Stadium. Tigres del Licey will travel to Santiago to face the Aguilas Cibaenas, and the Estrellas will visit San Francisco de Macoris where they will first have to finish the 30 October game that was suspended in the ninth inning and then play the regularly scheduled game.
On 15 November, the game between the Estrellas Orientales and Escogido will take place in the Quisqueya Stadium, while the Gigantes will travel to La Romana to face the Toros.
On Saturday, the Estrellas Orientales defeated the league-leading Toros del Este in the Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro de Macoris, by a score of 5 to 4. The victory came from a clutch hit by Joe Borchard in the eleventh inning. The victory brings the Estrellas to within half a game of first place in the standings. The Leones del Escogido defeated their "eternal rivals" the Tigres del Licey in a tight 2-1 game. A timely triple by Luis Terrero and great pitching by reliever Luis Perez gave the Leones their victory. Good pitching by Fabio Castro and home runs by Juan Francisco and Matt McBride gave the Gigantes del Cibao a much-needed victory over the Aguilas Cibaenas on Saturday at the Julian Javier Stadium in San Francisco de Macoris.
On Sunday, the Toros del Este spoiled the Tigres del Licey's anniversary party, defeating them 6-5 in the Quisqueya Stadium. Aneury Rodriguez provided the solid pitching and good hitting by Mauro Gomez and Victor Mercedes for the come-from-behind victory. It was the sixth straight loss for the Tigres. The Estrellas Orientales defeated the Gigantes del Cibao by a score of 4-1, with Felix Pie getting three hits and Jeff Frazier extending his hitting streak to 12 games. The Leones del Escogido took advantage of the poor defensive effort by the Aguilas Cibaenas, and defeated them 6-5 in their own ballpark. Despite the fact that the Aguilas tied the score at 5-5 in the eighth inning, an error by Wilkin Castillo allowed the winning run to score in the ninth.
