The DR has succeeded in reducing the time it takes to register a trademark or commercial name from 60 to just 3 days, which enhances the country's competitiveness in terms of foreign investment, according to the Executive Director of the National Industrial Property Office (ONAPI), Enrique Ramirez. Listin Diario reports that the difficulties that existed were hindering investment, and caused the country to be ranked 78th on the international index for investment climate, but with this new time reduction the DR could be placed close to 7th on the index.
