President Leonel Fernandez said yesterday that it was his duty to guarantee the unity of the PLD, because a united and strengthened party will win the 2012 elections in the first bulletin. "Our adversaries know this is dead certain, because they know that when the lion goes to the streets, the opponents suffer from cholera", the President said in an indirect reference to the PRD. Fernandez attacked his adversaries during a 15-minute speech during a swearing-in ceremony for 4,258 new PLD members from the five provinces in the east. Diario Libre says that neither Danilo Medina nor any of his followers who are on the Political Committee were present. The nation's leader and president of the PLD said that this second swearing-in ceremony of new party members is part of the task of expanding and strengthening the ruling party.
