Electricity services in the Cibao Valley were decidedly poor on Sunday. The failures were attributed to a series of maintenance programs that were going on at the same time. Moca, Tamboril and Licey al Medio were the victims of eight and ten-hour power cuts. According to a press release from power distributor EdeNorte, the outages were caused by the stoppage of service in one of the units in Puerto Plata. For today, the company will carry out maintenance on power lines in the Free Zone and San Jose de las Matas. Other fairly brief suspensions of service have been announced for the areas of the Pinco Rice Factory, Acero del Cibao, Ferreteria Ochoa, Hoyo de Lima Industrial, Grupo M, Envases Antillanas, Baldom and the city center. According to El Caribe, more scheduled outages will take place throughout the week.
