Haitians abandon children at hospitals

So far this year, at least 15 Haitian children, some infected with HIV, have been abandoned at the Arturo Grullon Children's Hospital in Santiago. Three other infants were abandoned at the Jose Maria Cabral y Baez Regional University Hospital according to health officials quoted in El Caribe. The director of the Arturo Grullon Children's Hospital said that one of the latest cases involved premature twins who remained in the hospital for five months. About three months ago, another five minors from Haiti were abandoned at the hospital and are still there. She told reporters that abandoned children are very common at the hospital.
