Government borrowing in the 2009 budget totaled about 20% of estimated income. In 2010 however, borrowing stands at 30%, or RD$115.9 billion (RD$378.9 billion budget), as reported in El Caribe. For 2011, the government is estimating that borrowing will come to about 25%, or approximately RD$97.25 billion of total revenues of RD$390.5 billion. Most of the borrowing is from short-term commercial sources.
