Fidias Aristy, a cousin of the former secretary general of the Dominican Municipal League, now La Altagracia senator Amable Aristy Castro, has been sworn in to head the organization until elections are held on 26 January. That means he will serve 73 days in the post to complete his cousin's four-year term. Aristy was in charge of the LMD for 11 years and 292 days. He was first elected to the post on 26 January 1999, as reported in Hoy. Fidias Aristy has served as deputy secretary, assisting his cousin in the organization that manages city government funds.
Fidias Aristy was sworn in by the Interior and Police Minister Franklin Almeyda Rancier.
He was selected for the post in an assembly attended by 111 mayors, of whom 109 voted in his favor.
