The president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) Roberto Rosario has told El Caribe that the entity is in "a deplorable economic condition." He says the government has not disbursed RD$800 million. The JCE urged Congress to allocate a further RD$3.15 billion to cover the deficit. He estimated that the year-end deficit would stand at RD$1.05 billion. Rosario said that the 2010 budget assigned the JCE RD$2 billion for distribution to politicians, another RD$2.45 billion for the JCE operation and organization of elections. The Banco de Reservas holds the debt. Rosario said that more than three million people have used JCE services this year.
