The open-air photography and art gallery at Independencia Park is showing a collection of photos and documents that tell the story of national heroines the Mirabal sisters. The "Mirabal Sisters: Memories of the Heroines" exhibition opened yesterday. The exhibition is being organized by the Ministry of Culture to mark the 50th anniversary of the murder of the sisters during the Trujillo dictatorship. The exhibition can be viewed through 15 December.
The Ministry of Culture is also organizing a guided tour of the historic sites in the story of the Mirabal Sisters' murder on Saturday, 27 November. Anyone interested in participating should contact the Ministry's Cultural Tourism Office.
