The National Reference Laboratory is testing about 14 samples for possible strains of cholera. The national procedure for treating suspected cases of cholera is to isolate and rehydrate the patient, and send samples to the National Laboratory for testing. The cases being investigated include a three-year old boy in the San Lorenzo Hospital in Los Mina and a 30-year old Haitian citizen who is being treated at the Almirante Hospital. The patient arrived from Chile via Panama.
