Judge orders Sobeida to stand trial

Late on Friday night, the magistrate at the Second Court of Instruction of the National District, Claribel Nivar Arias, ordered Sobeida Felix Morel and seven others to stand trial on charges of money laundering of assets from illegal activities by drug baron Jose Figueroa Agosto, now in a Puerto Rican jail. The magistrate partly accepted the prosecutors' petition, accepting charges of criminal association, laundering of assets proceeding from drug trafficking and other criminal activities. She rejected the illegal weapons charges against Ricardo Ivanovich Smester and Sobeida Felix Morel. The judge also renewed the coercive measures against the group.
