President Salvador Jorge Blanco was reported to be in a very serious condition yesterday after undergoing two surgical procedures. Diario Libre reports that Intensive Care specialist Dr. Yony Aquino says that he was diagnosed with a widespread acute subdural hematoma on Saturday, and was immediately operated on by neuro-surgeons Jose Joaquin Puello and Giancarlo Hernandez. In a press release, Aquino said that a CT scan was taken yesterday and renewed bleeding was observed, which caused him to be operated on again and later transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at the Dr. Abel Gonzalez Center for Advanced Medicine, where he is currently under observation. Jorge Blanco was taken to the emergency room in a comatose state at on Saturday at 8am. "His condition is very serious, but stable, and the prognosis is reserved". He said. The former President suffered a serious blow to the head at 5:45am when he fell down while getting out of bed. According to his son, Orlando Jorge Mera, the Secretary General of the PRD, his father suffered a relapse after showing "some promising signs".
