Four people in Santo Domingo West are being monitored closely after apparently contracting cholera. Three of the patients, two over 50 years of age and one 20-year old, are being treated at the Marcelino Velez Hospital in Herrera. The fourth patient, aged 68, is in the Dominican Social Security Institute (IDSS) Salvador B. Gautier Hospital. According to doctors, the 68-year old man who lives in Los Alcarrizos in Santo Domingo West is showing symptoms of the disease. The patient was hospitalized on Monday night and is being monitored as a suspicious case.
